Dr. Larry d. Sykes,
9th & Current Pastor

Dr. Larry Sykes is the pastor of Greater St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church. He has served in this role for the past 19 years. A native of Plant City, FL, he began serving in the ministry at a very young age. God has anointed and appointed him to develop others to fulfill God’s divine purpose in their lives. Pastor Sykes believes in the power of the Holy Ghost and with God’s anointing, he ministers to others and encourages them to take on the characteristics of Christ.
Dr. Sykes is committed to winning souls for Christ and uses preaching to provide God’s divine Word to address matters relevant to salvation and human existence. His focus is always on the glory of God!
God has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which is given to us in Christ Jesus (2 Tim.14:12)
Dr. Sykes recently retired from the Hillsborough County Public Schools after 36 years of dedicated service.. He is married to Dr. Adriane Sykes, who currently serves as a Supervisor of Workforce and Continuing Education for Hillsborough County Public Schools. God has truly blessed them beyond measure and they continue to give Him praise each and every day! They have 4 children and 6 grandchildren. In their spare time, they enjoy relaxing, traveling, reading God’s word and spending time with their family. Dr. Sykes knows too well that all things are possible through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
